In Search of Last Name

In Search of Last Name is based on the incredible true story of Spy Princess Yoshiko.

Each life is ordinary and extraordinary. So too Yoshiko Kawashima’s, a complex enigma of both, torn between the empires of China and Japan at troubled times (1907-1948). Switching effortlessly between the roles of Manchu princess and Japanese spy, she is feted as a dangerous beauty in military uniform. Yet, raised a foster daughter, she yearns for paternal love and a sense of home. Here, then, is the untold story of a woman who dared to break borders and boundaries at war.

Gabby So, graduated summa cum laude from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in Los Angeles, California. Gabby has devoted herself to the annual production of monodrama since 2015 and has performed over 40 shows in Hong Kong, New York and across Europe. She made her solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe with “Red Rose/White Rose” in 2016 and has collaborated extensively with independent artists on art films and fringe theater in recent years.
