Current Rental Opportunities:
Since 1976, Building for the Arts (formerly 42nd Street Development Corporation) has played a key role in the community renewal of Hells Kitchen, revitalizing the neighborhood with accessible performing arts at the center of this transformation.
Over the years, working together with Hells Kitchen community leaders, the City of New York, the Port Authority, local arts organizations, and patrons of the arts, we anchored the transformation of West 42nd Street by developing the theaters, restaurants, and apartments known as Theatre Row, and advocating for the designation of Manhattan Plaza into affordable housing for performing artists.
Today, we continue our decades-long commitment to transforming communities through the performing arts. Our mission extends to partnerships with organizations, businesses, agencies, and public representatives to increase the community’s access to the performing arts and improve the quality of life in our community.
Building for the Arts offers a unique mix of programming that includes Community Renewal through partnerships, office space rentals, residential housing, and commercial leases.
Together with you, we are truly building for the arts.
