Your donation gives students an equitable chance to learn to play the piano as part of their school day. After starting with just a handful of schools 27 years ago, we now partner with nearly 400 under-resourced schools, reaching every student at each school—more than 150,000 students each year, coast to coast. We’re not only teaching music literacy, we’re building confidence and making connections to reading, math, history, and geography.
And we’re getting results. A Columbia University study shows that we’re helping students build the academic, social-emotional, creative, and problem-solving skills they need. What’s more—students at our partner schools achieve increased math and English language test scores. Plus, the educators we serve say they’re more effective teachers thanks to our support and tools.
The Music and the Brain team constantly adds culturally responsive lessons to our ever-expanding curriculum, which lives on our award-winning online portal. These resources allow us to cost-effectively reach more schools each year – but we’ve got a long way to go before we reach every student nationwide.
