Equity: A Modern Comedy in Elizabethan Verse

A Shakespeare-inspired epic comedy about arts activism and what it needs to triumph.

It’s a world just like ours, but one where people speak poetry as surely as they breathe and battles of wit often rhyme; though that doesn’t make them any less brutal. In this world, the Actors’ Equity Association is not a struggling union, but a pure-intentioned Camelot that rules over Broadway. And a mysterious evil seeks to destroy it: lobbying congress to ban all shows that aren’t cash cow musicals. Can a ragtag cast of Shakespeare lovers prove to the world that the pen is still mightier than the sword?

Isle of Shoals Productions Inc., the 3-time New York Innovative Theatre-Award winning company that produced 2018’s Alex & Eugene returns for its first live show since 2020 with a fully staged reading of Equity: A Modern Comedy In Elizabethan Verse. Equity, a contemporary epic about arts activism, is told with a fusion of modern-day language and Shakespearean-style verse, couplets and sonnets. The piece is co-produced and co-cast by Tessa Faye, who returns to Theatre Row after 2020’s Abnormal.

Vaccination Requirements:

Age 5+

All patrons 5 & older must be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to their performance date. Proof of vaccination must be accompanied by a valid photo ID (valid ID for ages 5-18 do not need to include a photo).  

Once a child turns 5, they will have up to 45 days from their date of birth to be fully vaccinated. During those 45 days, they will follow requirements for the “Ages 2-4” category.

The requirement for ages 5-11 to be fully vaccinated follows New York City mandate that went into effect in January 2022.

Ages 2-4

Required to present a negative COVID-19 test: PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance, or a rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance. A negative test can be presented on paper or mobile device. We do not accept self-testing or at-home kits for negative tests.

Under 2 years old

There are no test requirements for children under the age of 2.
